Neuropsychology Services
Neuropsychologists specialize in understanding the relationship between the physical brain and behavior. The neuropsychology team at LeBauer works closely with our neurologists to assist in the diagnosis of neurological disorders and the development of individualized treatment plans.
A neuropsychologist can help determine how a neurological problem affects:
- Learning and Memory
- Attention and Concentration
- Language
- Problem Solving
- Reasoning
- Emotions/Personality
Doctors and patients can work together to maximize quality of life when they understand how each of these areas is connected to a patient’s specific neurological condition and how they impact that individual.
Neuropsychological Evaluation
Neuropsychological evaluations are provided for adults who may be experiencing changes in thinking, memory or behavior to help identify the cause of those symptoms. Additionally, information gleaned from the evaluation helps guide individualized recommendations for treatment planning and maximizing quality of life.
A neuropsychological evaluation is an assessment of how your brain functions. An evaluation includes:
- An interview to determine how you function with daily tasks
- Medical record review
- Standardized testing of memory and cognitive function.
- Cognitive function includes processing speed, attention/concentration, problem solving and reasoning, expressive and receptive language, visuospatial abilities, and learning and memory.
- Interactive feedback session 1-2 weeks after evaluation completion to discuss results and next steps for care.
A neuropsychological evaluation can be useful in diagnosing and assessing dementia, memory disorders, stroke, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson’s disease and cerebrovascular disease.
Our team is part of the broader Movement Disorders team at Cone Health.
