Donald Hovander, MSN, AGNP‑BC, is an Adult‑Gerontology Nurse Practitioner who is passionate about providing personalized, compassionate care to adults of all ages. With more than 20 years of nursing experience, he brings a calm, steady approach shaped by his years as a Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) caring for patients in the Medical Intensive Care Unit. 

Before becoming a nurse, Donald served as a Green Beret Medic, where he learned to stay focused, adaptable, and dependable in high‑pressure situations, skills he brings to every patient interaction today. 

He completed his Master of Science in Nursing in Adult‑Gerontology Primary Care at the University of Cincinnati and is licensed in North Carolina with specialization in both Adult Health and Gerontology.

Donald values building strong relationships, listening closely, and partnering with patients to support their long‑term health and well‑being.

"Doc" Hovander superior & more fabulous superlatives Iam a very complex patient with several co-morbidities. He went above & beyond the call of duty spending 1 hour+ prepping & 1+ hour direct appointment time.

Donald, NP was awesome. Very friendly, professional and answered my questions. I would recommend him. He has great care values as seems to care about his patients and staff. I could hear him talking to the staff in the other room and he was so respectful to them.

I came into this anxious regarding the request of a colonoscopy due to family history at my age. Instead, I was met with understanding and clarifying questions that focused on determining best path forward vs "validity". He offered up two options for screening, discussed based on family history which one was better, and created a referral. Regarding an ear issue, for which I was wanting an ENT, he offered up a non-invasive treatment to see if it could help at all based on details I had given. I appreciated being given an option that could hopefully provide relief in the interim.
