Prevent the Fight, Before it Begins – Colon Cancer Awareness Month
If someone told you that you could start preventing colon cancer today, would you do it?
During the month of March, LeBauer HealthCare is working to drive awareness to this disease and help kickstart the best ways to begin prevention.
Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the U.S., for both men and women. Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month encourages prevention, detection and early treatment of colon cancer. As we highlighted last week, be sure to check out both of the upcoming Cone Health free events around Greensboro during the month of March.
Get Started Today!
Along with visiting these great events, the CDC provides several suggestions on how to ensure you are working to prevent colon cancer.
Here are a few things you can do to take a stand to prevent colon cancer:
- If you’re age 50 to 75, get screened for colorectal cancer regularly.
- Keep physically active.
- Maintain a healthy weight.
- Drink alcohol in moderation.
- Stop smoking, as it can increase your risk for developing cancer.
LeBauer Healthcare offers open access colonoscopy screenings, with no preliminary office visit needed. If you would like to see if you are a candidate for an open access colonoscopy, or if you have any questions, please call us at 336-547-1745.
