LeBauer Gastroenterology has always been the leading provider of gastroenterology services in the Greensboro community. In existence since 1974, we have a history of being the first to provide many new services for our patients: Ø In 1974, Dr. Sam LeBauer was the first Gastroenterologist to open a practice in Greensboro and to perform Endoscopy/Colonoscopy services. Ø In 1978, Dr. David Patterson joined Dr. LeBauer and was the first to perform ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography) in Greensboro. Ø In 1982, the first female Gastroenterologist in Greensboro, Dr. Dora Brodie, joined the practice. Ø In 1988, we opened the first Gastroenterology research program in Greensboro. Ø The first three-year fellowship trained Gastroenterologist in Greensboro, Dr. Malcolm Stark, joined the group in 1992. Ø In 1992, we opened the first Ambulatory Endoscopy Center in Greensboro, the LeBauer Endoscopy Center, and it has been Joint Commission accredited since 1994. Ø Drs. John Perry and Malcolm Stark performed the first Endoscopic Ultrasounds in the community in 1995. Ø We were the first Gastroenterology group in Greensboro to employ Physician Assistants, “PA’s”, to supplement our physicians. Ø We established the first Gastroenterology hospitalist coverage in Greensboro in 1999 for Moses Cone Hospital and Wesley Long Hospital to improve the timeliness and quality of hospital patient care. Ø Dr. Dan Jacobs joined us in July 2006 as the first Gastroenterologist in Greensboro with expert training in Endoscopic Ultrasound – a service previously only offered at university medical centers. Ø We intend to continue our pattern of “first” by being the first Gastroenterology group in Greensboro to offer Virtual Colonoscopy. We have a great listing of achievements in the Greensboro medical community. We plan on continuing our leadership role in the field of Gastroenterology by bringing the most advanced and beneficial technologies to our patients, and continuing to recruit only the best-trained Gastroenterologists.
